TOUR Championship (CactusKub)

September 2-5

East Lake Golf Club

Jon Rahm +350

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time. The finale of the PGA Tour season is here and Rahmbo sits four shots off the lead due to the staggered scoring start. Firstly, let’s talk about the guys who will be starting ahead of Rahm:

Patrick Cantlay, four strokes ahead:

Cantlay was the winner last week in dramatic fashion with the best putting performance I’ve ever seen. It is hard to win twice in a row on tour, even with a four-stroke advantage. Also worth noting, Cantlay has the third worst record at East Lake out of every golfer in the field. Playing with the lead is not easy and tends to sway your decision making… look for him to be defensive and try and hold onto his lead. I don’t think he can putt as well as he did last week, and the course isn’t a great fit for him.

Tony Finau, two strokes ahead:

I don’t mind Tony this week as he has been playing extremely well. However, he has been known to not play well under pressure and there will be a lot of that this week. He has been putting abnormally well but been inconsistent off the tee. I look for Tony to finish well this week, but not at the top. I think he is the worst player starting above Rahm.

Bryson DeChambeau, one stroke ahead:

Just when you think Bryson can’t become any more of a villain, he does. After truly choking away the win last week, mixed with negative interactions with fans and other players, and a poor course history, Bryson will be a fade for me this week. Bryson has been known to weak mentally and after last week I’m not sure he will be able to recover. At East Lake, Bryson has been below average. Look for him to make some costly mistakes that will cost him a chance at the title.

Now let’s talk about why Jon Rahm this week.

  1. He is the best player in the world.
  2. He is in the best form of anyone in the world.
  3. He has a good track record at East Lake.
  4. He is as big of a competitor of anyone on Tour.
  5. He hasn’t lost strokes off the tee since 2019.
  6. He has gained strokes putting in 10/11 events.
  7. He has gained strokes on approach in 10/11 events.
  8. It’s his time.

Jon Rahm will be your 2021 Tour Championship winner.

Best of luck.
